Williams Tanker Services
Print Management Case StudyBrief Overview
Williams Tanker Services, based in Leeds, was formed in 1993 and has since then become one of the largest tanker service companies in the UK. As part of the TIP Group, Europe’s leading tanker service company, Williams Tanker Services need to ensure that all their systems are operating to the highest possible standard; However, they faced the challenge of managing a decentralised and costly print infrastructure which covered their large Leeds site with its multiple offices.

The Challenge
Williams Tanker Services owned nine A4 desktop multifunctional printers outright, spread across various departments at the site, resulting in high running, maintenance, and replacement costs and inefficiencies. Each printer was connected to a respective computer via USB cable and was unable to print remotely. As a result there was a considerable amount of paper and toner waste, impacting their spend, their flexibility, and potential for achieving their environmental sustainability goals.

The Solution
To address these challenges, Woodbank Office Solutions conducted a thorough print review. Their dedicated account manager at Woodbank highlighted the implications that owning and maintaining so many decentralised printers would have on their business. Woodbank proposed a consolidated and centralised solution. We replaced the nine printers with just three connected machines and implemented a comprehensive print management software package to minimise waste, reduce unnecessary call-outs, secure sensitive information, and increase overall efficiency.
The Result
After implementing Woodbank’s recommended solution, Williams Tanker Services experienced significant improvements in their print operations. The key results achieved were:
- Estimated 30% Reduction in Print Costs: With a streamlined and centralised print infrastructure, Williams Tanker Services realised substantial cost savings, allowing them to allocate their budget more efficiently.
- Improved Environmental Impact: With their print solution in place, Williams Tanker Services can better achieve their environmental goals with a large reduction in paper and toner wastage.
- Improved Efficiency: The consolidation of printers and implementation of a print management software package enabled smoother printing processes, eliminated the need for direct USB connections, and reduced downtime. Now, they can print from any approved device, as well as allow guests to print securely from their network.
- Enhanced GDPR Compliance: A consolidated print infrastructure and secure print management software helped Williams Tanker Services achieve improved GDPR compliance, ensuring the protection of sensitive information and data.
In conclusion…
Woodbank Office Solutions successfully transformed Williams Tanker Services’ print infrastructure, delivering tangible benefits such as cost savings, efficiency improvements, and enhanced environmental sustainability. Woodbank supported Williams Tanker Services in unlocking the full potential of their print operations and helped them achieve a more efficient and environmentally responsible approach to printing.
